What is an "Ideal Cut" stone?

An Ideal Cut diamond represents the highest standard in diamond cutting. Even an untrained eye can immediately see the difference of an Ideal Cut diamond. Their beauty is exceptional!

  When crafting an Ideal Cut diamond, the cutter conforms to very specific mathematical guidelines that include measurements, angles and proportions. Following these strict guidelines ensures that the diamond reflects the maximum amount of light from the top of the diamond. Diamonds that are cut too shallow or too deep let light leak from the bottom and sides.
To determine whether or not a diamond meets the Ideal Cut standards, a Certified Gemologist will take several factors into account. Some of these factors include:

  • The table of the diamond must fall somewhere in the range of 53%-58% of the total diameter.

  • There must be exact symmetry among the 58 precisely shaped facets

  • Must have a culet angle of 98.5û;
    girdle-to-crown angle of 34.5û; and
    girdle-to-pavilion angle of 40.25û.
